Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on first Sunday after Easter.  In 1985, then Cardinal Macharski, added it to the Liturgical Calendar of Archdiocese of Krakow.  In 1995 Pope John Paul II, responding to petition of Polish Conference of Bishops, added it to the Liturgical Calendar of all dioceses of Poland.  On April 30, 2000, the same Pope, proclaimed the Feast of Devine Mercy for the whole Roman Catholic Church.
